A Sword of Shadow and Deceit

(Mortal Gods # 1)

Author: Lucinda Dark

Genre: Dark, Fantasy, Romance

Blurb:

Desperation makes warriors of captives.

The Gods split the skies and rained down tyranny upon the mortal realm long ago. Ever since then, the only thing worse than being human is being of Divine Blood.

For someone like me—an undocumented God child, indebted to the Underworld Assassination Guild—that means only one thing: A life in the shadows.

Or so it should have been … until Mortal Gods Academy. Until them.

The Darkhaven Brothers are truly the worst of all the Gods’ spawn. Arrogant. Wicked. Violent.

To them, I’m nothing more than a human plaything meant for torment. For me … they’re the path and the key to my freedom.

But if any of them find out who I am, what I am … even the shadows won’t be able to save me.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This book was amazing! It has everything I enjoy reading in a book.
Kiera is an assassin sent on a mission to infiltrate a school for Mortal Gods. She works as a servant to the arrogant but powerful Darkhaven brothers while she waits for her target to be revealed.
I loved all the characters, especially Kiera. She’s strong and confident. It definitely made things interesting when she stood up to Ruen, Theos, and Kalix. I enjoyed seeing each character develop throughout the book. Especially the relationship between Kiera and the Darkhaven brothers. Every interaction was intense and entertaining.
Overall, it is a captivating read that keeps you hooked until the end. The cliffhanger made me eager to learn what happens to Kiera, Ruen, Theos, and Kalix. I can’t wait to continue in the next book.
